From her humble beginnings as part of a large, hardworking, Irish immigrant family to her reputation as a wealthy socialite and world traveler, Margaret made her mark around the globe with her tireless activism for workers', children's, and women's rights, as a hands-on philanthropist, a robust political candidate, and a skilled singer and actor. She received the Palm of the Academy of France for her dramatic art and the French Legion of Honor award for her philanthropic and war efforts, never forgetting her family, friends, and simple beginnings in Hannibal.
